Wind and rain and the passing of time causes severe harm to block paving and weeds grow through the smallest gaps, causing your once proud paving to look shabby and in need of attention.
The answer is here!
At Great Outdoors & In not only do we clean your block paving, we also offer a complete refurbishment service. Whatever the size of the installation - from small household driveway to an industrial car park - the process is the same:-
- The area is swept over to remove any lose debris.
- Any stains or chewing gum are treated with the application of suitable chemicals.
- The block paving is meticulously pressure washed using a rotary washer connected to high pressure washer (3000psi/200 Bar). Pressure washing removes a small amount of jointing sand and any weeds, moss, algae, lichens, dirt and grease.
- In order to restore your property to its original condition all walls, fences or boundaries are washed down to remove any deposits. All windows affected are professionally cleaned for FREE.
- Once cleaned the block paving is treated with an industrial herbicide (weed killer) to eliminate remaining weeds and roots.
NOTE We hold NPTC (National Proficiency Tests Council) PA1 & PA6A licenses to apply pesticides. This is a legal requirement for any contractors or operators working with pesticides / knapsacks (always check that your operator is properly licensed before undertaking any work).
- Once the paving is dry the area is re-sanded using kiln dried silica sand and vibrated (compacted) back into the joints. Please note no excess sand is left on top of the blocks, this practice is totally unnecessary not only does it look a mess but the sand is usually transferred from the paving into the near by properties!
- You then have the OPTION of having the paving sealed. The sealer we use is a product called PIC-SEAL, which is a heavy duty sealer designed to enhance block paving. Not only will it penetrate and protect the blocks from future stains but it also hardens the jointing sand, helping to inhibit weed growth. If required we can also add an anti-slip product to the seal, to make the paving safer under foot, especially usefull for driveways with steep gradients.
WARNING: The use of inferior quality or cheap sealers can cause staining to your paving, resulting in expensive measures such as industrial paint stripping to correct the problem. It is imperative to ensure that you use a reliable contractor for sealing work.
If required we can lift & relay sunken or damaged areas of block paving and even add addition drainage prior to sealing - please contact us for details.
MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME Finally we offer a maintenance programme: every three months we will carry out a weedkill. This service is available for both sealed and non-sealed installations. Sealed installations will still benefit from the treatment as it stops weeds from growing on top of the seal. For the unsealed installations the weedkiller will prevent weeds from establishing themselves in the jointing sand. For more details please contact us. |
